The Game

CROISADES is a game by French designer Duccio Vitale that was adapted from the original OUTREMER by Standard Games. Unlike the latter, which was just an adaptation of the CRY HAVOC game system to the Crusader States, Duccio released a much more ambitious game that is now seen as the reference in the series. Tactical rules were revised and augmented, and the game adds a combination of strategic, diplomatic and role playing dimensions.

Box Contents (Croisades):

> 2 full-color maps, giving a possibility of 10 different terrains;
> 2 sheets of playing pieces printed in full color (over 150 different characters);
> A strategic map of the Middle East;
> A sheet with 480 strategic counters (borders, ships, castles, etc.);
> 1 125-page rule and scenario booklet;
> 6 playsheets for the tactical, strategic and role playing games;
> 4 troop layout sheets;
> 1 notepad of major and secondary characters;
> 3 dice (2D10 & 1D6).

Les counters

The playing pieces include templars, turcopoles, Kings and Sultans, mamluks, horse archers, hashishins and much more.  No two characters are alike, each has his own name, costume and combat values, bringing the period faithfully to life.
Note: A few counters of Sergeants, Halberdiers, Billmen, Spearmen and Peasants are similar to those of Siege and have not been displayed here. Kings have been exchanged to match their arms (lions for Richard).
